Interesting news out of the Whole Foods camp today.
Instead of closing the Gateway location of the popular Austin-based natural grocer chain, Whole Foods Market will keep both North Austin locations open when the newest store at the Domain finally opens on Jan. 15, 2014.
The stores will be less than three miles apart, but Mark Dixon, regional president for the company’s Southwest region, said via press release that they decided to keep the store open after many customers said they’d like to continue shopping at the smaller Gateway location even after the 65,000-square-foot Domain location opens early next year. The store was originally slated to open in spring of this year.
The Domain location will be the fifth in the Austin area, with other stores located downtown, in Southwest Austin and in Bee Cave, just west of Austin.
