You know it, you love it and now America will get a taste of it, too: Texas Chili Parlor is coming to living rooms across the country next year.
The Jan. 5 episode of Food Network’s “The Grill Dads” brings the titular flame-kissed fathers to Austin for a trip to the Lavaca Street dive, an Austin institution since 1976. According to CultureMap Austin, hosts Mark Anderson and Ryan Fey have their sights set on Texas Chili Parlor’s beef chili with macaroni and cheese.
“The Grill Dads” is produced by Food Network star and coiffure iconoclast Guy Fieri, who picked the show concept as a winner of his “Guy’s Big Project” competition series. Like Fieri on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Anderson and Fey travel across the country to try “epic bites.”
According to the show’s page on the Food Network website, Texas Chili Parlor isn’t the only Austin stop on the “Grill Dads” itinerary. The paters fa-grill-ias will also stop at for chicken bao buns at Wu Chow. They will also grab pad Thai tacos in the capital of Texas on another installment, and though no restaurant is named in the episode description, it sounds like it might be Peached Tortilla.
