Crema Bakery launches Cookies for Kids program

Editor’s note: This article was originally published December 18, 2013

Crema Bakery & Cafe owner Jessica Forkner knows first hand that holiday cookies are a real treat for Austinites in need.

Before opening her South Austin bakery, Forkner worked at a nonprofit that helped kids and their families, but now that she’s in a place to provide a special treat for the holidays, she’s launched Crema’s Cookies for Kids to donate baked goods to children, teens and families at the Austin Children’s Shelter.

Each $10 donation covers the cost of a box of cookies, which Forkner plans to deliver just before Christmas. The deadline to support this year’s donation is Dec. 22. You can call 512-282-1300 or visit the store at 9001 Brodie Lane to contribute. cremabakerycafe.com
