Mental Health Month is in May, but this is the kind of year when we’ll be thinking about mental health issues for the entire year.

For many years, bakeries around the world have hosted Depressed Cake Shops to highlight the importance of talking about mental health issues. Most bakeries show their support by baking and selling cookies, cakes and other treats that are gray but have a hint of color or carry messages of hope to represent the idea that even if you’re struggling under a cloud of depression, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

This year, Dream Bakery, Kellie’s Baking Co., Tiny Pies and Cupprimo are teaming up with NAMI Central Texas to sell these kinds of baked goods during the month of May. Each shop is offering different kinds of sweets that are available for pick-up or delivery. You can find each shop’s selection on its website.
