The Austin Food & Wine Alliance is hosting an online bake sale ahead of Mother’s Day that features more than a dozen of the city’s best bakers and pastry chefs.
You can place orders for the Citywide Sugar High Online Bake Sale through May 6, and the boxes of treats will be delivered on May 9, just ahead of Mother’s Day. (That’s Sunday, May 10 for those of you who need the reminder.)
Participating sweets makers include Tiny Pies, Julie Myrtille Bakery, District Kitchen & Cocktails, Bento Picnic, Garbo's Lobster, Juniper, Uncle Nicky's, SRSLY Chocolate, Rosedale Kitchen and Bar, Second Bar & Kitchen, Colleen's Kitchen, Brand & Mortar Group, and Epicerie Café & Grocery and La Pera Catering & El Camaron Taco Delivery.
Each shop is making whatever they specialize in, from brownies and decorated cookies to cupcakes and French pastries. There are some gluten-free options, and there’s even a pie or two on the menu. Each box is priced differently ($25 to $53), and there is a $10 delivery fee to help support restaurants affected by the pandemic and a $5 donation to AFWA.
The deadline to order is 5 p.m. on May 6, and you can browse the treats and place an order at givebutter.com/afwa-bakesale.
