There are myriad holiday parties this month, but this weekend, two local bars and a brewery are combining the festivities with adorable animals. These are three events you probably don’t want to miss.
Circle Brewing’s Party Pig Imperial Porter Release Party
The latest seasonal beer from the North Austin brewery has a name just begging for a few real, actual pigs to be present during its release party, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen. To celebrate the new Party Pig Imperial Porter, one of the booziest brews Circle has done, the brewery is inviting Central Texas Pig Rescue to the taproom with some of their rescue pigs.
In addition to the original imperial porter, Circle Brewing is tapping two variations: Disco Pig, the porter aged in brett barrels, and Whiskey Pig, the porter aged in whiskey barrels. Enjoy these with grub from the food truck Doggie Style. Pet some pigs from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at 2340 W Braker Ln., Ste B. For more information, visit circlebrewing.com.
Yard Bar’s Pugly Christmas Sweater Party
One of the dog-friendliest bars in Austin managed to find the cutest possible spin on the classic ugly Christmas sweater party concept. Yard Bar is offering a full day of pugs in sweaters, with various sartorial competitions benefiting Pug Rescue of Austin. The four contests include ugliest sweater for dogs, look-a-like sweater for human and dog pairs, and ugliest sweaters for pugs and pug mixes only.
There will also be games, drink specials and holiday jams, including karaoke. The free party runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 at 6700 Burnet Road. For more information, visit the Facebook event page.
Banger’s Holiday-Themed Mega Mutt Monday
The Rainey Street bar’s monthly pet-friendly event is getting into the holiday spirit this time around. As with past Mega Mutt Mondays, this one will include an all-day happy hour, live music and dog-related vendors. New this month: You can bring your dog to take a photo with Santa Claus. The music will come from the Blues Posse; vendors include Phydeaux and Friends, Fabulous Paws and more.
Although photos with Santa are free, participants are encouraged to make a donation to Paws Ranch Rescue & Animal Sanctuary. The otherwise free night runs goes from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 18 at 79 Rainey Street. For more information, visit the Facebook event page.
