UT alum Andrew Dismukes now writing for SNL

If you are a hardcore Austin comedy denizen, you might remember now-22-year-old Port Neches native Andrew Dismukes from such venues as Cenote (where he first got on stage in 2012 as a University of Texas freshman) or the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada, last summer.

Now, he’s writing for Saturday Night Live, according to a profile on the UT Moody College of Communication’s website.

Dismukes provides a daily breakdown of a writer’s week at SNL that comports with most accounts of working there: (Monday pitch meetings, Tuesday all-day writing day deep into the night, table read Wednesday, rehearsal and taping pre-tape stuff Thursday and Friday, dress and show Saturday, collapse Sunday).

The piece notes that Dismukes got signed by a manager after a set at Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and soon found himself auditioning for the show. He was soon hired for the season.
