New dates announced for Austin Pride parade, festival after Harvey rain delay

Mark your calendar in rainbow colors. Austin Pride will now be held over two weekends, three weeks apart.

The annual parade and festival, originally scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 26, were postponed due to Hurricane Harvey. According to Austin Pride’s website, the parade will now take place Sept. 30, and the festival will be held Oct. 21. Tickets sold for the festival’s original date will be honored, and a portion of proceeds from the event will also be donated to Harvey relief, the website says.

As the Austin Chronicle points out, the new festival date coincides with Formula One weekend in Austin. Paul Huddleston, Austin Pride’s president, told the Chronicle the majority of the scheduled festival entertainers will still perform Oct. 21.
