Cinco de Mayo, the holiday celebrating the Battle of Puebla, takes place Friday. Here’s a roundup of events in the Austin area to celebrate.

Taste of Mexico 2017 at Brazos Hall. The Mexic-Arte Museum celebrates Cinco de Mayo by highlighting French influence in Mexican foodscapes.

Infinite Monkey Theorum’s Cinco de Mayo First Friday. The South Austin winery’s monthly First Friday event falls on the holiday this year, so enjoy tacos and an art showcase with your wine slushies.

Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl in Bastrop. Downtown Bastrop restaurants are teaming up for a pub crawl with drink samples.

Cinco de Elmo at St. Elmo’s Brewing Company. A noon beer release of a Mexican lager as well as specials on Michelada’s.

Cinco de Meow at Mean Eyed Cat. Margarita and beer specials all day long.

Cinco de Mayo at Guero’s Taco Bar with Tequila Cazadores cocktails and live music from Peligrosa.

Cinco de Mayo Block Party at in.gredients. The East Austin establishment is donating 1 percent of its Friday proceeds to the Workers Defense Project, and they’ll have live music and themed drinks.

Vitera at Antone’s. Former Rick Trevino and Asleep At The Wheel fiddle player-turned-Latino rocker/electric violinist Haydn Vitera brings his signature brand of "Tequila Rock" to the Antone's stage for Cinco De Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Hotel Vegas and Volstead Lounge. Free tacos and a chips-and-salsa bar and drink specials on Dos Equis and margaritas all night.

Cinco de Mayo Hip Hop Event at Spiderhouse. A long line-up of hip-hop artists will be performing all night.

Cinco de Mayo Jam at Dirty Dog Bar. Featuring performances by Bull Y Los Bufalos, Blue Tongue and Deanne Rene.

Baracutanga and Huerta Culture at Flamingo Cantina. Enjoy the rhythms of South America and homegrown Austin cumbia, ska, reggae, hip-hop, blues, rock and balkan influences.

No DWI Free Holiday Rides. So this isn’t exactly an event, but it’s important: a local law firm is giving free rides to people who have been drinking on holidays. All you have to do is pay for a taxi or ride sharing service, and the firm will reimburse you via PayPal.
