On Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he would let the state’s stay-at-home restrictions expire at the end of April and allow movie theaters, retail stores, restaurants, museums, libraries and malls to reopen at 25% capacity May 1.
This week, some of Austin’s favorite family friendly attractions announced that they will open this weekend, all with capacity limits and additional precautions in place. Here’s a round-up.
Peter Pan Mini Golf: Peter Pan Mini Golf will reopen Friday daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets must be purchased electronically; no cash. Masks or face coverings are required, as is social distancing. Groups are limited to four people or less, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own ball and putter. Capital Cruises: Capital Cruises, which offers bat-watching and sightseeing tours on Lady Bird Lake, will reopen with limited capacity May 1. Social distancing and face masks are required, and payments will be accepted by credit card only. Canoes, kayaks, SUPs and swan pedal boats rentals will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Public boat tours are available Friday-Sunday and will follow the 25% capacity limit. Inner Space Caverns: Inner Space Caverns will reopen May 1, according to its website. The caverns will operate at 25% capacity and tour size will be limited to groups of eight. Social distancing will still be required and masks are recommended. All employees will have their temperature checked when they enter the building. Learn more at innerspacecavern.com.
Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms: Pioneer Farms will reopen its historic sites, exhibits and nature trails to small-group, self-guided tours May 1. Social distancing is required. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Sunday. pioneerfarms.org
