Coronavirus concerns have thrown cold water on one of the year’s hottest one-off food events. The Austin Food & Wine Alliance announced today that it was postponing its annual Live Fire event at Camp Mabry that was originally scheduled for April 2.
"Unfortunately, the global spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the subsequent cancellation of South by Southwest has strained Austin's culinary community and highlighted concerns about staging large-scale events. To be mindful of attendee health and respectful of chef and vendor resources, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Live Fire," the organization said in an emailed statement.
The AFWA statement said that all tickets purchased would be refunded to the original card used to purchase tickets and that they will assess their options and announce a new date for Live Fire as soon as possible. Potential attendees can sign up for updates on AFWA’s website.
