Pan-Asian fusion restaurant 1618 has been rolling out a soft opening for the past few weeks and this week the restaurant at 1618 E. Riverside Boulevard made it official. The operation from husband-and-wife team Kevin and Lynn Tran serves a lunch and dinner menu that bounces around Asia with dishes like pad Thai, pho and grilled lamb chops.

Curious about the new restaurant, I dipped in last week and tried the tender and fragrant lamb chops and grilled squid dishes and enjoyed both. The space inside the AMLI South Shore Building is modern and airy, with windows looking out onto the sidewalk and Riverside Drive just east of I-35.

The large restaurant (it seats 200) also serves beer, wine and cocktails like a Secretini made with vodka, lychee, and cucumber juice.

1618 is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. There is complimentary parking available in the AMLI South Shore Building’s parking garage.
