Fashion for Good Austin, the new name for Austin Fashion Week or Fashion X, has produced a new "Project Runway" contestant.

Brittany Allen, will join the cast for the 18th season, which debuts 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5 on Bravo.

Allen, whom we profiled in spring, describes her Brittany Nicole line this way:

"I’m on the verge of tacky, but it’s a fun tacky," she says. "It’s girly but powerful."

"If Dolly Parton and Betsey Johnson had a baby, I would be it," she says. "It’s a little tacky, in a good way."

Allen is scheduled to show her at this fall’s Fashion for Good event Runways: Designers. This year’s fall events were scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but because of the expected weather coming Thursday into Friday, the outdoor events have moved to Nov. 22-23, still at the Domain. Runways: Designers will be 8 p.m. Nov. 22.

That’s the gamble that Fashion for Good has made with choosing this year’s venue. It’s made a habit out of taking risks with venues lately after years of staging shows at event venues and hotels. Recent picks have been KLRU’s studios, Speakeasy, Vault Space and The Austin American-Statesman’s warehouse.
