The Austin Symphony Orchestra has conjured up a frightfully fun concert that will get you in the fall spirit. Hear César Franck's "The Accursed Huntsman," about a count being hunted by hell's demons, and Hector Berlioz's dreamlike "Symphonie fantastique," which tells the story of an artist's self-destructive passion for a woman he is obsessed with. The magical night also features renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz performing "Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1" as his Austin debut. Haimovitz has studied under Yo-Yo Ma and Ronald Leonard.

2. Yuyo's Second Anniversary Party

Yuyo opened on Manor Road in October 2017 and has since earned local and national recognition for its vibrant interpretations of Peruvian cuisine. To celebrate two years in business, Yuyo hosts a pisco party that will have pisco tasting and $2 signature bites, such as Peruvian ceviche, grilled choclo (corn), and grilled chicken and beef heart anticuchos. And did we mention all-night happy hour prices?

3. "Happiness Is a Journey" at Big Medium

The Big Medium show chronicles the daily life and art of Bear Lopez, a 60-year East Austin resident and a 20-year delivery man of the American-Statesman. He has seen a lot of changes in his neighborhood and paper route in those years. With "Happiness," artists Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan bring the home and works of Lopez into the gallery while presenting the resilience of those who, like him, remain faithful and proud of their eastside roots.

4. Independence Brewing's 15th Fiesta

It's not every day that a brewery celebrates 15 years in business, so Independence is going all out with an all-day party. The event features a brightly colored fiesta theme, three limited-edition beers and live mariachi performances from Mariachi Las Coronelas at 3 p.m., Los Callejeros de San Anto at 5 p.m. and El Tule at 7 p.m. The special beers were inspired by beloved Mexican drinks, such as a margarita-inspired kettle sour.

5. The Ultimate "Sandlot" Movie Party

Alamo Drafthouse, Rolling Roadshow and the Austin Food & Wine Alliance are proud to present a once-in-a-lifetime cast reunion and outdoor screening of the 1993 cult classic "The Sandlot," with Tom "Smalls" Guiry, Patrick "Ham" Renna and Chauncey "Squints" Leopardi scheduled to attend. This special movie party screening at Treaty Oak features preshow shenanigans with the cast, limited-edition merchandise and a pre-screening Q&A with the cast.
