Self-described taco journalists Jarod Neece and Mando Rayo of Austin have already published books about Austin breakfast tacos and the varied tacos of Texas, a book which they followed up with a web series. With their new show, “United Tacos of America,” the two expand their scope, investigating the foodways, flavors and stories of tacos across the country and the people who make them. The eight-episode series premiered Oct. 15 on Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network, with the first episode focused on Houston, the duo’s favorite taco city in Texas. The episode that highlights Austin and features Miguel Vidal of Valentina’s Tex-Mex BBQ and Hoover Alexander, among others, will air on Oct. 29. (Austin Mayor Steve Adler named that day United Tacos of America Day in celebration.)

We sat down with Neece and Rayo for a chat about their love of tacos and their new TV show:
