Classic rockers Mott the Hoople have canceled a scheduled Oct. 29 show at ACL Live in Austin, along with 10 other fall tour dates, at the medical advice of band leader Ian Hunter's doctors, the band announced Monday.

"The group’s singer and guitarist Ian Hunter has recently developed a severe case of tinnitus and has been advised by his doctors to discontinue performing until this condition subsides," the announcement stated. "Tickets purchased for these dates can be refunded at point of sale."

The band's "Mott the Hoople '74" tour earlier this year earned widespread acclaim, leading to the original plan for additional fall dates. The shows initially were postponed before Monday's cancellation announcement.
