Residents of Dripping Springs joke their Hill Country town should be renamed "Drinking Springs" because of the number of breweries, distilleries and wineries that have set up shop there, according to 12 Fox Beer Co. co-founder Joe Hogge.

12 Fox Beer is just one of the breweries participating in October's Dripping with Taste Trail, a bi-annual event you can partake in with the purchase of a passport. First launched in May, the month-long trail offers free tastings for people who purchase the passport and check out some or all of the 26 participating producers.

The Dripping with Taste Trail begins on Oct. 1 and runs through Oct. 31. With the $50 passport in hand, you can visit up to four of the participants per day — and if you visit all 26 spots throughout the course of the month, the total cost essentially means you're paying roughly $2 at each one. It's an even better deal if you buy the $90 couple's passport.

"There are "new wineries, breweries and distilleries popping up all over Dripping Springs and Driftwood on what seems like a weekly basis and it can be tough to keep up-to-date on the newest destinations. Not to mention the cost of visiting all of these places can really add up," according to the Dripping with Taste website. "The wine, beer and spirit loving folks of Dripping Springs and Driftwood are here to help you discover all of these boozy destinations without burning a hole in your pocket."

A total of 10 wineries, seven breweries and eight distilleries in the area will have complimentary flights or tastings for passport holders. (How much booze constitutes a tasting is up to each place.) You can use the passport for as many days as you want throughout October, though you can only use it once at each tasting room. Your passport will get stamped to mark where you’ve been.

Head to the Dripping with Taste website to purchase your passport. Here are all the places you can go for free tastings with it.
