Restaurateur Shawn Cirkiel’s Backspace realizes that business lunchers and tourists may want something more than just pizza at lunch. The intimate Italian restaurant behind Cirkiel’s Parkside has rolled out a new lunch menu that includes three $14 panini (chicken saltimbocca with fontina, sage and prosciutto; an Italian cold cuts classic; and a Sicillian eggplant with provolone, pesto, cherry tomatoes and Pecorino roman) all served on ciabatta made at Easy Tiger, along with three salads (chicken Caesar; farro with ricotta olives and cherry tomatoes and a giardiniera with radicchio, kale, salami, pecorino Romano and pepperoncini).

Backspace is open for lunch Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
