Today's announcement from ACL Live that Steely Dan will play the marquee downtown venue on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 was welcome news for Donald Fagen fans, but it left a major lingering question: What about Willie?

Since the venue opened 2011, Willie Nelson has played multi-night New Year's Eve stands there every year. In 2015, he expanded from Dec. 30-31 shows to Dec. 29-31.

The venue confirmed Monday that Nelson is taking the year-end shows off for 2019. It doesn't appear that this is for health-related reasons, though Nelson may well be ready for some rest after a busy fall that includes more dates with his touring Outlaw Music Festival, the annual Farm Aid concert Sept. 21 in Wisconsin, and a six-show run in Las Vegas in mid-late October.

Meanwhile, Steely Dan tickets, $89-$429, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, on the ACL Live website via seller Ticketfly.

The venue has not yet announced a booking for Dec. 31.
