Here's what's happening in the Live Music Capital of the World.

OUR TOP PICKS

Saturday: Frank Orrall, Abra Moore at 3Ten. Once bandmates in the Hawaiian transplant ensemble Poi Dog Pondering, Orrall and Moore now live far apart, but whenever Orrall brings the band back to Austin, our extraordinary local singer usually returns to the mix. This one's not a full-band gig, but that might well mean something even more special is in store, if we get a good deal of Orrall/Moore collaborative material. $20-$22. 9 p.m. 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. 3tenaustin.com. — P.B.

Saturday: Como Las Movies at Independence Brewing Company. Taylor Wallace of KUTX 98.9 FM continues his second Saturday Taylor’d Frequency series featuring free local music and comedy. Nuevo wave cumbia act Como Las Movies headlines this installment with Jeremiah Jackson, the crushed velvet-caped crusader of Austin rock, also performing. Local comic Nick Saverino will provide the jokes. The event is free and open to the public, but the comics often dabble in adult humor, and viewer discretion is advised. 5 p.m. 3913 Todd Ln., Suite 607. independencebrewing.com. — D.S.S.

Sunday: Mac Sabbath, Okilly Dokilly at Barracuda. Because nothing in the world really makes sense anymore, why not spend your Sunday night watching Ronald McDonald’s evil twin bring all your evil clown nightmares to life through snarling, fast food-themed covers of Black Sabbath songs? Bonus: Metalcore band Okilly Dokilly will be on hand to play anger translators for Bart Simpson’s goodie-two-shoes neighbor, Ned Flanders. Playboy Manbaby opens. $17-$20. 8 p.m. doors. 611 E. Seventh St. barracudaaustin.com. — D.S.S.

Monday: Claypool Lennon Delirium at Emo’s. You know the players: Les Claypool made his name as bassist/vocalist for the 1980s-90s prog-metal outfit Primus, while Sean Lennon has both followed in his father John’s rock-star footsteps and pushed out in his own fascinatingly creative directions. They’re touring behind “South of Reality,” their second album together; the results have been as delightfully trippy as one might expect from such a pairing of adventurous artists who are wide open to musical exploration. Uni opens. $30-$160. 7 p.m. doors. 2015 E. Riverside Drive. emosaustin.com. — P.B.

Monday: Church on Monday album release at Continental Gallery. One of Austin’s top residency gigs for seven years, Church on Monday has a special reason to celebrate this week. The new disc “For Being There” draws upon recordings at the Gallery in January and February of this year. Saxophonist Elias Haslanger leads an esteemed ensemble that includes drummer Scott Laningham, bassist Daniel Durham and guitarist Tommy Howard, plus ace-in-the-hole organ master James Polk. $5. 8:30 p.m. 1313 S. Congress Ave. continentalclub.com/gallery. — P.B.

Wednesday: Particle Kid at Stubb’s indoor. Micah Nelson’s dad, Willie, keeps cranking out records at an age-defying pace, and his brother, Lukas, is soaring high with a widely acclaimed, Americana-based album this year. Micah’s music has always been a little more out there, and that’s true on his new Particle Kid release, “Window Rock,” which weaves together elements of indie, punk, folk, psychedelia, noise rock and more. New Fumes open. $10-$12. 8:30 p.m. doors. 801 Red River St. stubbsaustin.com. — P.B.

Thursday: Lyle Lovett & His Large Band at ACL Live. Set to be inducted in the "Austin City Limits" Hall of Fame in October, Lovett makes his more or less annual stop at the program's home venue with his full crew for two evenings that likely will draw from three-plus decades of memorable albums. He's come a long, long way since those intimate mid-′80s nights at the Cactus Cafe. They'll play a second night on Aug. 16. $49-$99. 8 p.m. 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. acl-live.com. — P.B.
