The Austin Food & Wine Alliance (AFWA) and Rolling Roadshow are bringing legendary actor Val Kilmer to Austin.
On Aug. 31, Kilmer will host a screening of “Tombstone” (in which he really is terrific as Doc Holliday) at the J. Lorraine Ghost Town (14219 Littig Road, Manor).
On Sept. 1, he'll be at Camp Mabry (2200 West 35th St.) for a screening of the immortal “Top Gun,” in which he gets to look down at Tom Cruise and deem him “unsafe.”
Tickets to the two shows are available now at https://rollingroadshow.com, including a limited number of VIP meet-and-greet tickets.
Proceeds from the Rolling Roadshows will support the Alliance’s grant program for chefs, farmers, artisan producers and nonprofits. Since 2012, AFWA has awarded $252,500 in grants to fund local culinary projects.
Each event will also have food trucks and full bars on hand. Look for casino games set up in the saloon, as well as cap guns at the “Tombstone” screening. Look for ... speed-themed games and amusements, maybe, at the “Top Gun” screening.
