In Austin, we love our dogs so much that we tend to bring them everywhere — including on restaurant patios. Next week, when they accompany us to happy hour or dinner at a handful of these spots, they'll get extra spoiled thanks to Dog Restaurant Week.

Yes, such a thing really exists.

Dog Restaurant Week launched last year as a partnership between Edible Austin and Tito's Vodka for Dog People program. And it works pretty simply: Visit the participating restaurants starting Monday through July 28 with your pooch, so they can enjoy a fido-friendly menu with options that include pup pastries, beef sliders and pumpkin truffles. The dogs won't be the only ones getting treated, either. You can keep cool on the patio with a Tito's cocktail.

Perhaps best of all, a portion of the proceeds from Dog Restaurant Week go toward local animal-focused nonprofits, including Emancipet, Blue Dog Rescue and Friends of Austin Animal Center. Tito's Vodka for Dog People regularly donates to Emancipet, among other organizations.

After a successful debut in Austin last fall, this year's Dog Restaurant Week has expanded outside of the city to Louisville, Nashville, Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Here are the restaurants participating locally.

Irene's, 506 West Ave.
Opal Divine's, 2200 S. Interstate 35
Revelry on the Boulevard, 6215 N. Lamar Blvd.
Rustic Tap, 613 W. Sixth St.
Red's Porch, 4200 B Braker Ln. and 3508 S. Lamar Blvd.

Austin has the most dog-friendly restaurants of any U.S. city, according to personal finance site WalletHub. So even if you can't make it to one of those eateries next week, you can at least rest assured that plenty of other patios await for your favorite four-legged friend.
