Memories of the July 1969 moon landing have been everywhere this week, from PBS and NASA television specials to retrospective accounts both online and in print. Austin musician Robert Ellis, who grew up not far from NASA headquarters near Houston, is marking the occasion with a new version of "Everyone's Gone to the Moon," a mid-1960s British pop song.

Performed solo on piano — more in the style of jazz legend Nina Simone's 1969 version than the original hit — the Ellis version went up on YouTube today. In the video which begins with brief historical footage from NASA, Ellis sports a blue suit decorated with astronaut artwork and star-sparkle sequins. Check it out here:
