Art

"Ensoul." For Maura Schaffer, the dining room table is more than an ordinary domestic object. It is a symbol of all that is good about humanity. Functioning as a tool for sustenance, conversation and unification, the tables created for this exhibit are not only sculpted and painted by the artist but imbued with a soul. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through July 27. Film

"The Room" Movie Party. What could make Tommy Wiseau’s "Citizen Kane"-inspired film even more electrifying? Spoons and footballs flying through the air, of course. The Alamo Drafthouse will provide those and other surprises at the "Rocky Horror"-esque interactive show. You provide the resounding callbacks like “Spoon!” and “You're tearing me apart, Lisa!” Wiseau's "The Room" is equal parts melodrama, black comedy and psychosexual deconstruction of modern relationships. 10 p.m. June 24, 7:15 p.m. July 29. $5.25. Books

Lacy Johnson at BookPeople. In 2014, Lacy Johnson was giving a reading from "The Other Side," her memoir of kidnapping and rape, when a woman asked her what she would like to happen to her rapist. That not-easy-to-answer question has led to "The Reckonings: Essays on Justice for the Twenty-First Century," a new collection that Johnson will talk about and sign at a book appearance at BookPeople. In the book, Johnson contemplates how our ideas about justice might go beyond vengeance and retribution. 7 p.m. June 24. Free. 603 N. Lamar Blvd. bookpeople.com
