Here's what's going on in the Live Music Capital of the World this week.

OUR TOP PICKS

Friday: Tribute to Charles Bradley at Mohawk outdoor. C.J. Edwards, who flexes his R&B/soul chops every Wednesday at Dozen Street’s Butter ‘N’ Jam, brings out his funk fellowship to pay tribute to the Screaming Eagle of Soul. Daptones artist Bradley, who crafted a gritty and raw portrait life in America with powerful songs like “Why Is It So Hard?” and “The World (Is Going Up In Flames),” took his final bow in 2017 following a battle with cancer. Event organizer UtopiaFest promises “numerous special guest singers representing multiple genres and generations of Austin music” throughout the evening. $10-$15. 912 Red River St. mohawkaustin.com. — D.S.S.

Friday: Will Beeley at Waterloo Records. Raised in San Antonio, country-folk singer-songwriter Beeley made two albums in the 1970s that mostly went unnoticed, until indie label Tompkins Square reissued them in 2017. Then they got Beeley, who now lives in New Mexico, into the studio to record new material with Central Texas producer Jerry David DeCicca. The result, “Highways & Heart Attacks,” is Beeley’s first album in 40 years. Free. 5 p.m. 600 N. Lamar Blvd. waterloorecords.com. — P.B.

Saturday: Rickie Lee Jones at 04 Center. The new South Austin church venue presents arguably its coolest show yet with two-time Grammy winner Jones, one of America’s most enduring singer-songwriters. Most know her from her 1979 self-titled debut and the exquisite follow-up “Pirates,” but Jones has continued making fascinating albums ever since, frequently reinventing herself and breaking down borders between genres. $38-$68. 8 p.m. 2701 S. Lamar Blvd. 04center.com. — P.B.

Saturday: Chingona Fest at Hops & Grain (rescheduled from April 6). Storms forced the cancellation of the event earlier this year, but the festival returns with a solid roster of rocking Chingonas. El Paso-based indie rock/mariachi outfit Tribes leads a bill that includes excellent Selena tribute act Bidi Bidi Banda and rising rockers the Tiarra Girls from Austin. Latinx artisans from around the country will participate in a vendor market at the event, and there will be food trucks on site. A portion of proceeds from the event benefit Latina-focused nonprofits. $30 (children 10 and younger free). 11:30 a.m. gates. 507 Calles St. chingonafesttx.com. — D.S.S.

Saturday: Festival de Cumbia en la Capital VI. The heat is up and the hips are switching as cumbia festival season in Austin continues. Over the past decade or so, the folkloric Colombian music has spread through Latin America and around the globe, meshing with hip-hop, reggae, electronica and more to become one of the most dynamic urban music forms in the world. This two-stage bash celebrates the many ways regional bands incorporate the booty-moving sounds into their music. The bill includes El Tule, Plan Sonidero, DJ Albert Carreno, Como Las Movies and more. $15 9 p.m. 611 E. Seventh St. barracudaaustin.com. — D.S.S.

Sunday: Rock & Roll Free For All reunion at Hole in the Wall. A weeklong celebration of the Hole’s 45th anniversary concludes with members of Paul Minor’s outfits Superego All-Stars and the Texas Tycoons bringing back the free Sunday night shows that were a staple of the club’s calendar for many years. That show begins at 9:30 p.m.; there’s also an afternoon matinee at 4 p.m. with Cass Brostad, Mary Beth Widhalm and Candler Wilkinson. 2538 Guadalupe St. holeinthewallaustin.com. — P.B.

Thursday: Los Coast at Antone’s. The debut album from this youthful five-piece outfit led by singer Trey Privott and guitarist/keyboardist John Courtney is up there with the new Black Pumas record among significant eclectic funk-soul-based sounds coming out of Austin. Earlier this month, the band, which also includes bassist Megan Hartman, drummer Damian Llanes and keyboardist Natalie Wright, knocked out a Waterloo Records in-store crowd. Their new record, “Samsara,” draws on jazz, blues, folk, pop, hip-hop, indie rock and more; like most of the best Austin bands across the decades, they’re more interested in breaking down genre boundaries than adhering to them. Kalu & the Electric Joint open. $12-$15. 8 p.m. 305 E. Fifth St. antonesnightclub.com. — P.B.
