The Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy — the national organization that presents the annual Grammy Awards — will mark its 25th anniversary with a gala celebration at ACL Live on July 18. The event includes a public concert featuring a remarkably diverse lineup of nearly a dozen acts, including Tex-Mex legends Flaco Jimenez and Little Joe Hernandez, Houston rappers Bun B and Paul Wall, and Austin roots-music mainstays Marcia Ball and Asleep at the Wheel.
The academy's Texas Chapter also represents Oklahoma, which explains the inclusion of pop trio Hanson, as well as Mexico. Also on the bill are hitmaking Austin country trio Midland, San Antonio conjunto fixture Los Texmaniacs, and gospel singers Yolanda Adams and Brian Courtney Wilson. Adams is the current president of the Texas Chapter.
An early-evening dinner and reception is for Academy members only, but ACL Live will then open to the public for an 8:30 p.m. concert featuring short sets by the 11 performing acts. Tickets, $45-$65, are on sale now via the venue's website.
