The new SXSW Center is opening next week, and it will include a cafe with a familiar name.

The South by Southwest headquarters at 1400 Lavaca St. will officially open at 7 a.m. on Monday and will feature a cafe called SouthBites Coffee Bar and Cafe.

Running the eatery are Brent Schumacher of Pink Avocado Catering and Quirino “Q” Silva, former culinary operations director at Flyrite Chicken. The cafe will feature hot and cold foods that people can grab and go, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. They'll also have a coffee bar featuring Cuvee Coffee that will be under the direction of head barista and coffee expert Denise Caballero, formerly of New Orleans.

Early next year, the SouthBites culinary team will open a restaurant and bar next to the cafe in the ground floor of the building. Also, later this summer, look for a "pop-up beverage program" on the rooftop deck of the building, which offers guests views of the Capitol.
