Austin’s spirit animal roamed home recently for a moment of inspiration. Matthew McConaughey visited the East Texas town of Longview last weekend and spoke to the graduating class at Longview High School.

The 1988 graduate, who had returned home to pick up the diploma he never retriever at his own graduation along with a state championship ring commemorating the Lobos latest title, turned directly to the students and spoke to them about “the great adventure of life” on which they were about to embark. And, in true McConaform, the man who once spoke at an awards ceremony about loving Austin because there are more green lights here, couched things in a poetic analogy.

The star of “The Beach Bum” told the graduates to never forget that their heart is their “20,” or location.

Heart is the one thing that “we all have that should never be for sale. McConaughey said. “Don’t negotiate your heart.”
