Austin's own Aaron Franklin has joined the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Timbaland and Penn & Teller as an instructor for MasterClass, the online education company.

MasterClass, which started in 2015, now features dozens of high-profile teachers, ranging from actors Samuel L. Jackson and Natalie Portman to Starbucks founder Howard Schultz and author Dan Brown, and each shares lessons on a specific subject to an audience of students who pay $180 per year for access to the videos.

Franklin officially joined the online instructors today, National Barbecue Day, and his videos are already being promoted on the website.

Franklin, you'll remember, won a James Beard Award in 2015 and have published two cookbooks in the past few years. In the videos, Franklin will demonstrate his pitmaster techniques, which is something he has done before in a 10-episode PBS web series called "BBQ with Franklin" that debuted in 2015.
