Roger Miller’s “A Trip in the Country” at Sam’s Town Point. This 1970 album wasn’t Miller’s biggest seller, but it’s one of his best, with songs such as “Tall Tall Trees” (later a chart-topper for Alan Jackson) and “A World So Full of Love” (recorded last month by Shakey Graves for an upcoming single in Bruce Robison’s “Next Waltz” series). Singers Roger Wallace and Bob Appel will front an ace band including drummer Tom Lewis, who plans to present similar album-in-sequence events at Sam’s in the months ahead. $5. 9 p.m. May 9. 2115 Allred Drive. samstownpointatx.com — Peter Blackstock

In doing so, he creates a new kind of documentation written with the knowledge that what makes us human can never be captured on a government questionnaire.
