May 4 is "Star Wars" Day. (May the Fourth be with you ... get it?) On Saturday, nerds and the people who love (or tolerate) them will enjoy all things from a galaxy far, far away.
Here are some places to drink a lot, make a lightsaber, watch a movie and more.
Over at the Cow Tipping Creamery (4715 South Lamar Blvd., Suite 103) starting at noon, they’re offering “dueling 'Star Wars' stacker specials … choose between black vanilla, coconut blue milk or Yoda-green soft serve ice cream, each paired with scratch-made baked goods, house-made sauces, sprinkles, and 'Star Wars' cookies.”
Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow presents a free screening of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at Republic Square Park (422 Guadalupe St.) starting at 6:30 p.m. This event is free, but bring a chair or blanket to sit on. There will be food trucks and cash bars on site for everyone to enjoy. Screening starts at dark.
Over at the Oskar Blues Brewery (10420 Metric Blvd.), the "Star Wars" Day Celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs until 10:30 p.m. as Other World Austin celebrates with its annual "Star Wars" Fan Film Shorts program. Look for food from Wünder Pig Barbecue Co. and prizes for Best Costume and Wookie Mating Call. The venue is kid friendly with craft sodas available and pinball; the short films screened are not rated.

Starting at 11 a.m. and running until 2 p.m. at the Black Star Co-Op Pub and Brewery (7020 Easy Wind Drive), one can meet “Miss Sophia the Divine Canine Jedi as she boosts Barks for Beers 2019, with a galactically great party.” There will be mini-auctions throughout the day, with Jedi Sophia signing pawtographs.
May the 4th Be With Y’all 2019 start at 2 p.m. at the Highball (1120 S Lamar Blvd.). For a $10 suggested donation, this year’s art show will showcase local and national artists as well as participants in Chula League’s “Little Artist Big Artist” program. Look for a charity raffle, costume contests for kids and adults, photo opportunities, performances, tattooing and a parade for kids and pets. The suggested donation benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities Of Central Texas.
Elysium (705 Red River St.) presents a night of drinking, dancing and more as they celebrate the world of "Star Wars" at May The Fourth Be With You with burlesque, pole dancing, go-go dancing, vendors, themed drinks and more. Scheduled performers include MC John Maverick; Alexander Danger doing acrobatic performance as your favorite Jedi who turned to the dark side; Rynice Hanson as a “Pole Dancing Twi'lek”; Jamie Angelica fire dancing as “your favorite princess turned general”; Amelie Ahmose doing burlesque as “a bounty hunter from the expanded universe”; and much more. Cosplay is encouraged. Cost: $10 advance, $13 day of event.
