If there's an area music festival that epitomizes Central Texas summer fun, it's Float Fest, an outdoor extravaganza that combines a music festival with tubing on the Guadalupe River.
This year, the festival moves to a new property on a private ranch in Gonzales, about an hour outside of Austin for a two-day event on July 20-21. Festival organizers say the new location is three times larger than their old digs in San Marcos and the event will still include camping, floating the river and live music.

"Gonzales is known as the birthplace of Texas independence and we can't think of a better place to celebrate a festival rich in Texas traditions such as live music, floating the river, and camping,” festival founder Marcus Federman said in a press release.
Float Fest organizers will release this year's lineup and tickets on Thursday. More information.
