Spring music season is in full swing and with both HonkTX! and Urban Music Festival kicking off on Friday, it's a busy weekend for music in Austin, but here's one more fantastic free event to add to your family fun calendar.
On Saturday, the Blanton Museum of Art hosts the third annual Blanton Block Party. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the museum will throw open its doors for community festival to kick off Spring. Singer-songwriter Jeff Plankenhorn's 11 a.m. performance, kicks off a diverse roster of artists including psychedelic cumbia outfit, Money Chicha, inspirational rapper Saul Paul and sunny pop purveyors, Shy Beast. Husband/wife hip-hop team Riders Against the Storm will close out the music program with a 9:30 performance.
In addition to music, there will be art activities throughout the museum and outdoor family programs. Food from Pueblo Viejo, TLV Israeli Street Food and Pinkberry will be available to purchase on site and drinks will also be available.
Special event parking will be available for $5 in the Blanton/Brazos Garage and Capital Metro will be running two Capital Metro will also be providing two free shuttles from Northcross Station-Southbound or Wheatsville Co-op South, but you have to preregister to ride.
