Austin's taco world received a jolt last week when Veracruz All Natural announced it would be leaving its longtime East Austin home on East Cesar Chavez Street at the end of the month. The Vasquez sisters had received little notice from their landlord, and the Austin taco scene would soon change. Well, we don't have to mourn quite yet, as it turns out. The mini taco empire posted on Instagram today that, likely encouraged by the outpouring of support for the taco truck, Veracruz was told it would be allowed to stay until the end of the year. So, while visiting SXSW-ers will have to get their bearings when they arrive next March, we Austinites can continue to head to 1704 E. Cesar Chavez St. for the best migas tacos in Austin.

Veracruz posted the following statement to Instagram this morning:

"We have great news! It looks like we will be able to stay at our original location on E Cesar Chavez, at least through the end of the year, and we believe this is due to all the love and support that you all showed in reaction to our post a week ago about being evicted. Sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you Austin (and to our landlord for being willing to extend our E Cesar Chavez contract)! We will continue to keep you posted."
