In the latest "I Love You So Much" podcast dispatch from SXSW, Addie Broyles chats with "Bizzare Foods" host Andrew Zimmern about the power of Austin as a food town and the community of chefs he calls upon when he's here.
Zimmern was in town to host a dinner at Eden East, an urban farm in East Austin, with a handful of sustainable seafood companies, including Verlasso, Riverence, Pacifico and Island Creek Oyster Co., that are redefining aquaculture. They talked about what customers can do to buy better fish and why isn't not so bad being a thriving "second city" in America. The chefs featured at the dinner were Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki of Launderette, Soyna Cote of Eden East, Tyson Cole of Uchi/Uchiko, Juniper chef Nicholas Yanes, Philip Speer of the soon-to-open Comedor, as well as chef Paul Bartolotta from Milwaukee, Portland's Jenn Louis and New York City chef Anita Lo.
