One of Austin's best taco purveyors set up shop in East Austin roughly a decade ago — and will have to move this original location at a to-be-determined date in the next month or two.

The owners of Veracruz All-Natural's food truck on East Cesar Chavez Street received notice that it will have to leave the premises soon, but they aim to find a new, more permanent east side location for it.

"Abruptly receiving the letter giving us 30 days to vacate broke our hearts," Veracruz said in an Instagram post. "In fact, we are experiencing a lot of emotions, and over the next few weeks, on both social media and our website, we will attempt to articulate our thoughts and feelings, and at the same time celebrate, through stories and photos, our history on E. Cesar Chavez."

Veracruz gained attention and was able to expand to additional locations in part because of popular items like the migas taco, which the Austin360 food writer, Matthew Odam, declared the best migas taco in town. In addition to the East Austin spot, there are other food trucks in the Mueller district and at Radio Coffee and Beer in South Austin. The first Austin brick-and-mortar location opened near Burnet Road in 2017.

But the East Austin location seems to be especially important to the Veracruz team.

"Whether you are one of our regular customers on E. Cesar Chavez, a local Austinite that has not yet visited our original location on the Eastside, or from out of town attending #sxsw, we invite you to come to our original location before we have to move," Veracruz said on Instagram.

The east side truck is located at 1704 E. Cesar Chavez St. and open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit veracruzallnatural.com.
