America's longest running biergarten has become the newest place to host label showcases at South by Southwest this year.
For the first time, Scholz Garten will offer five days of free live music provided by various record labels at the festival. No wristbands are required to attend. The Scholz Kick-off Party on Tuesday starts the festivities, which will feature food and drinks each day in addition to the tunes.
The showcase on March 15, the Texas Music Magazine Reader Appreciation Party, features local acts like Western Youth and Los Coast. This one requires an RSVP to attend or proof of subscription at the door to either Austin Monthly or Texas Music magazine.
Wednesday is devoted to 6131 Records acts such as Potty Mouth and Lovelorn. The Nine Mile Records & Greenbelt Touring Day Party on March 14 starts at noon and runs through 10:30 p.m., with artists that include Think No Think, Korine and Elephant Gym. And the final day of SXSW music, March 16, will play host to New Granada Records' showcase of musicians ranging from Doe to Eureka California.
Each day, musicians will perform outside in the beer garden.
Scholz Garten is located at 1607 San Jacinto Blvd. For more information, visit scholzgarten.com. And for more SXSW news, head to austin360.com/sxsw.
