Here's what's happening in the Live Music Capital of the World this week.

OUR TOP PICKS

Friday: KUTX Rock the Park with Shy Beast at Mueller Park. Austin’s NPR station is back with another round of family-friendly free concerts. Each show pairs a popular local act with a kids group. This go-round features the emotional pop music of Shy Beast with Dr. Joe. There also will be face painters and food trucks on site for a full family outing your little rockers will appreciate. Free. Face painting begins at 6:15 p.m., music at 6:45 p.m. 4550 Mueller Blvd. kutx.org. — D.S.S.

Saturday: Zombies at Mohawk outdoor. After years of knocking on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame door, the 1960s English rockers finally got in, with formal induction set for next month in New York. Co-founders Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone remain at the front of the band’s current lineup. They’ve released two albums this decade, but they’re still most widely known for their classic hits “Time of the Season” and “She’s Not There.” Liz Brasher opens. $35-$38. 8 p.m. doors. 912 Red River St. mohawkaustin.com. — P.B.

Sunday: Indie Orchestra Night with Panoramic Voices, Roky Erickson, more at Millennium Center. Wonder what your favorite Austin band would sound like with a string section? For the fourth year in a row, choral ensemble Panoramic Voices are arranging the songs of popular local artists for orchestra and choir. This year’s event features psych-rock legend Roky Erickson, pop savant Mobley, powerhouse rockers Sweet Spirit and electropop outfit Night Glitter. A portion of proceeds from the event will go to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. $25-$30 (includes two drink tickets). 3:45 p.m. doors. 1156 Hargrave St. ion2019.brownpapertickets.com. — D.S.S.

Wednesday: Carrie Rodriguez Laboratorio with Ruben Ramos at Cactus Cafe. Violinist and singer-songwriter Rodriguez’s monthly Cactus show is special enough with her regular supporting cast: bassist Roscoe Beck, keyboardist Michael Ramos, guitarist David Pulkingham and drummer Alex Marrero. But she’s gone way-over-the-top with this month’s special guest: It’s Ruben Ramos, Grammy-winning leader of Tejano group the Mexican Revolution and member of the all-star ensemble Los Super Seven. $22-$25. 8:30 p.m. 2247 Guadalupe St. cactuscafe.org. — P.B.

Thursday: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band at Erwin Center. The bad news was that Seger had to cancel his originally scheduled October 2017 show, citing urgent vertebrae problems. The good news is that he recovered enough to reschedule. The bad news is that he’s now calling this his farewell tour. The good news is there’s still this final chance to see him. A 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the fiery rocker (“Hollywood Nights,” “Katmandu”) and poignant balladeer (“Against the Wind,” Still the Same”) will make the night move one last time in his first Austin show since 1986. Arrive early for local country singer Sunny Sweeney, who scored a coup landing the opening slot for a handful of regional dates. $45-$120. 7:30 p.m. 1701 Red River St. uterwincenter.com. — P.B.

Thursday: Hotel Vegas & Volstead Eighth Anniversary with A Giant Dog. Austin’s favorite garage-rock dive celebrates with a three-stage bash featuring a stacked roster of top Austin talent. Bar bruisers A Giant Dog and Leather Girls shake things up on the patio stage. Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band, Sailor Poon and Borzoi will play the indoor Hotel Vegas stage. On the Volstead stage, the club hosts a songwriter’s showcase featuring performances from Leslie Sisson of Moving Panoramas, Bad Boy Croy of Croy & the Boys and more early, followed by a DJ showcase that includes Ulovei and Orion Garcia. Free. 4 p.m. doors. 1502 E. Sixth St. texashotelvegas.com. — D.S.S.
