Patty Griffin, Andrew Bird, Courtney Marie Andrews and William Tyler will play a free show at Auditorium Shores on Saturday, March 16, as part of South by Southwest, event organizers announced Thursday morning.
Free shows at Auditorium Shores are a longstanding SXSW tradition. Further announcements are expected in the next few days about possible free shows Thursday and Friday, March 14-15.
Badges aren't required to attend, but it's necessary to sign up at the SXSW website for a SXSW Guest Pass, which is free. It's also good for admission to a handful of other specially designated events.
Griffin, an Austin-based Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, is releasing a self-titled album on March 8. Chicago multi-instrumentalist Bird's new album, "My Finest Work Yet," is due out March 22. Andrews' 2018 release, "May Your Kindness Remain," landed on several year-end top-10 lists and earned her an Emerging Artist of the Year nomination at the Americana Music Awards. Nashville indie-folk guitarist Tyler issued his fourth album, "Goes West," in January on Merge Records.
Set times are as follows: William Tyler, 6-6:25 p.m.; Courtney Marie Andrews, 6:40-7:15 p.m.; Andrew Bird, 7:35-8:20 p.m.; Patty Griffin, 8:45-9:45 p.m.
