South by Southwest is bearing down on Austin like a looming specter of endless parties and traffic. So, in the interest of self-care, might I recommend a very wholesome pig pageant this weekend?

Central Texas Pig Rescue will host a celebration of the finest porkers around from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at The Buzz Mill (1505 Town Creek Drive). There's no lipstick required for pigs entering this particular pageant (I'm calling it "Miss Ham-erica" in my head), but you do need to register your swine at info@centraltexaspigs.org. Include your pig's name, age, sex, weight, photo and "creative" bio in the email. Leashed pigs only at this pageant, according to the event details.

According to Central Texas Pig Resuce, Buzz Mill and the food trucks on site (Plow Burger and Li'l Nonna's) will donate a "percentage of their special sales" to the organization. The pageant's goal, which the event details say is part of Amplify Austin, is to raise $20,000 for a trailer to help with on-site medical care.

May the best pig win.
