If you're looking for a good cook-off, you have two to choose from this weekend. I've attended both of these events, and they are full of good food, good people and a good time, no matter the weather.

Rain Lily Farm's Fais Do-Do & Gumbo Cook Off is back for its seventh year, and 10 teams will compete for the title of best gumbo from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the farm located at 914 Shady Lane.

Although they aren't taking on any more contestants, you can still show up for live music, beer, bloody marys, gumbo and an afternoon at one of East Austin's urban farms. Tickets cost $30 ahead of time online or $35 at the door. Kids under 10 are free.

At Spicewood Vineyards near Spicewood, chili cooks will be competing in the 11th annual Pair It with Claret event, which brings together more than a dozen cook-off teams to this Hill Country winery. Tickets cost $30 online ahead of time and $35 at the door, and the event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. You can also still sign up to compete through the website, spicewoodvineyards.com.
