Looking for a way to sample food from dozens of Asian restaurants in one place? The second annual Far East Asian Food Festival may be just the thing for you. The event will feature tastings from 30 to 40 restaurants ranging from Indian to Japanese cuisine, with a list of participants that includes Sway, SnoMo, Thai Fresh, Donkey Mo’s Korean Fried Chicken, Jenna’s Asian Kitchen, DFG Noodles and more. In addition to food tastings and beverage sales, there will be a no-handed noodle eating competition, live performances and more. — Matthew Odam

In the early 1970s, before Roe v. Wade and the Violence Against Women Act, Agnes has turned her quiet bed-and-breakfast into one of the few spots where victims of domestic violence can seek refuge. But to Agnes’ dismay, runaway Mary Anne is beginning to influence Agnes’ college-bound daughter Penny. In Filigree Theatre's latest production, these women and one another find their strength as the feminist revolution gathers steam.

In 2016, Case played the Long Center as part of a trio with K.D. Lang and Laura Veirs, whose self-titled trio album pushed all three singer-songwriters in new directions. With last year’s acclaimed “Hell-On,” Case returned to her own career, though she clearly still values collaboration: Most of the new album was written with longtime collaborator Paul Rigby, but she also co-wrote two songs with her New Pornographers bandmate Carl Newman. — Peter Blackstock

4. Sweet Barks: A Benefit for Austin Pets Alive

This year, Sweet Barks, the annual Austin Pets Alive! pet-friendly party and fundraiser, will give you the chance to have your dog photographed by Elias Weiss Friedman. As the Dogist, he might well be the world’s most famous dog photographer. The purchase of a raffle ticket could possibly mean your pooch ends up on his Instagram page, followed by more than 3.4 million people. The afternoon will also feature a kissing booth, vendors and a treat station.

In honor of the milestone birthday, one of Austin's most acclaimed cocktail bars will be throwing a party to remember. Expect food and drink specials and a family jam with live music from various performers, including the Michael Hale Trio, Canned Beets, D-Madness, and Ter'ell Shahid. Plus, if you think you can be a rodeo star, participate in the bull ride contest for a rowdy good time; there will be a prize for the winner.
