Coming up

John Doe Folk Trio at Continental Club. Here’s where Austin still proves its mettle as Live Music Capital: X co-founder Doe, so essential to Los Angeles that his band’s first record was called “Los Angeles,” moved here last year and promptly formed this terrific acoustic-leaning side project with upright bassist Kevin Smith of Willie Nelson’s band and well-traveled drummer Cully Symington. Doe’s still doing X tours with some regularity, but he may well be making his best music right now with this ensemble. $20-$22. 10 p.m. Feb. 7. 1315 S.
