The 37th annual Austin Music Awards ceremony is scheduled to go down on Feb. 27 at ACL Live and on Tuesday, organizers revealed this year's lineup.
Jakob Dylan, son of songwriting legend Bob and frontman for the Wallflowers, gets top billing alongside John Doe of the first wave L.A. punk band, X.
The rest of the lineup features a host of the city's top talent including psychedelic soul outfit Black Pumas, soul dynamo Tomar Williams and rockabilly and country queen, Rosie Flores.
Premiere pianist Glover Gill, who recently retired from live performances due to joint pain in his fingers and elbows, will make a special appearance at the show, as will India-born, Austin-based rapper Abhi the Nomad. DJ Mel, who just took the title of top DJ in the 2018 Austin360 Awards will perform at the show alongside the blues upstarts the Peterson Brothers, singer-songwriter Jon Dee Graham and tango ensemble Tosca.
The evening, which celebrates the winners of the Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin Music poll, will also include a special tribute to pioneering Austin hip-hop artist Donnell Robinson, a.k.a. MC Overlord, who died last year.
Local guitar legend, Charlie Sexton is the musical director and band leader for the evening.
Tickets to the show start at $35 and are on sale now. Proceeds from the event benefit local music nonprofits, HAAM and SIMS.
