“This Land,” the first studio album since 2015 from heralded Austin guitarist and singer-songwriter Gary Clark Jr., will be released on March 1, his label Warner Bros. Records announced earlier this morning. But you don’t have to wait to hear the title track, which is being released as the album’s first single today.
Both the song and the video, which was filmed in the Austin area, are likely to attract a lot of attention. “This Land” is an incendiary song both musically and lyrically, with Clark dropping F-bombs and N-words as he expresses anger at personal experiences with racism. Watch it here:
Clark will perform the song tonight (Thursday, Jan. 10) on CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
