"Of Mice and Music: A Jazz Tap Nutcracker." It's like no "Nutcracker" you've likely ever seen before: Tapestry Dance Company stages a jazzed-up version of the original Tchaikovsky score and beloved jazz classics featuring a score played live with some of Austin's best jazz musicians and Tapestry artistic director Acia Gray playing the Drosselmeyer role. 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23. $19-$39. "Fun Home." The Ground Floor Theatre production performed entirely in the round introduces main character Alison at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family — her mother, brothers and volatile, brilliant and enigmatic father — that connect with her in surprising new ways. Cozy Night Out at Easy Tiger. Warm up during a December night with a beer from Kansas City's Boulevard Brewing. Free Movie Night at the Trail of Lights. Have you been wondering when to make the annual pilgrimage to the Trail of Lights? Go on Thursday for a movie night. Austinites are invited to grab their blankets, a bag of kettle corn and enjoy the holiday film "The Polar Express." The screening takes place one of the last free nights of the Trail of Lights, one of Austin's most beloved yuletide events; there will also be complimentary hot cocoa and silver bells. 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Texas Arboretum Tour at the Wildflower Center. Explore the wonders of native trees (plus shrubs, grasses, flowers and more) in the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center's Texas Arboretum, one of the most shaded trails there. Walks will focus on native flora and Texas history, and you’ll likely see feathered friends along the way.
