Don't be afraid to let your inner Grinch come out this month; there's a place where you'll fit right in. The W Austin is offering a holiday refuge that Dr. Seuss would be proud of — the Who-tel Bar.
The downtown hotel's Secret Bar, which was already appropriately bedecked in red, has been transformed to look like one of the homes for all the Whos down in Whoville (the tall and the small) with a "W-centric spin," according to a news release. Starting Thursday, the bar will be open at 5 p.m. most nights until Dec. 28.
Expect decor that wouldn't look out of place in a Dr. Seuss book. Plus, there will be themed drinks, food and entertainment each night — and plenty of photo ops, of course, including in a "chair of cheers" that would make the Grinch sneer. A good time to show up is from 10 p.m. to midnight, when you'll feel your heart grow three sizes thanks to complimentary sweets such as Who-rros (churros, that is) and cocoa served by the Grinch himself.
Themed cocktails might just leave you feeling a little festive. Here are a few of them to expect:
Grinch Nog, with Courvoisier VSOP cognac, house-made nitro eggnog and matcha powder
Who-tini, with Ketel Orange and Peach Blossom Vodka, prickly pear, Jumex Plum Nectar, lemon juice and agave
Mount Crumpit, a mound of shaved ice covered in Bulleit Bourbon and candy cane syrup
Max's Reindeer Cocoa, adult hot chocolate

This holiday season has been a big year for festive bar pop-ups, including Miracle on 5th Street, Sippin' Santa at Nickel City and Geraldine's transformation into a life-size snow globe. One local restaurant has also created a life-size gingerbread house that up to a dozen people can dine within this month.
