Two of Austin Java's most central locations closed within the past year. But there's still hope for the longtime local chain to have a major presence south of Lady Bird Lake: A new Austin Java opens Dec. 7 on Manchaca Road, near Stassney Lane.
Austin Java's fifth cafe and restaurant debuts with a completely new look for the brand, as well as coffee, cocktails and breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner menus. The coffee shop sources coffee from around the world and roasts the beans daily at its in-house roasting facility in Dripping Springs.
At 5404 Manchaca Rd., the new Austin Java is bright and airy, with high ceilings, a white marble-topped bar, dog-friendly front patio and plenty of seating, including a special area for conferences and meetings.
The original location of Austin Java closed last year off South Lamar Boulevard, and its popular Barton Springs Road spot also shuttered this year (an Irish pub called Darcy's Donkey has taken its place). But the chain is located at City Hall, the Met Center, and at San Marcos and Dripping Springs, with a sixth cafe planned for the cell phone lot of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Austin Java will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit austinjava.com.
