Preparing to release their first new album in more than a decade, South Carolina band Hootie & the Blowfish will play the Austin360 Amphitheatre on June 13, 2019, as part of a 44-city tour.
Tickets, $29.50-$129.50, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, via the venue's website. Canadian band Barenaked Ladies will open the show.
Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker has been concentrating on a solo career as a country act for the past decade or so, releasing a half-dozen albums that produced a handful of country chart-topping hits. The band still reconvened for occasional performances, but the upcoming album, to be released on Universal Music Group Nashville, will be their first since 2005's "Looking for Lucky." Their last Austin performance was in November of that year, at the Backyard.
The band's lineup — Rucker, guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber and drummer Jim Sonefeld — has remained the same since the late 1980s. Their 1994 breakthrough album, "Cracked Rear View," has sold more than 20 million units in the United States.
