More than any other holiday, music plays an integral role in the celebration of Christmas. Those of us living in the Live Music Capital of the World are blessed with abundant opportunities to hear our favorite holiday songs. Do you prefer country carols, mariachi merriment or a blue Christmas? We've highlighted 10 great concerts where you can share the spirit of the season with your family and friends. We've also included a list of over two dozen other festive shows.

Nov. 23: Sir Doug’s Thanksgiving Jam at Threadgill’s World Headquarters. On Thanksgiving in 1972, roots rocker Doug Sahm invited Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Leon Russell and a gang of Austin musicians to join him for a live jam at the Armadillo World Headquarters. Over a thousand Austinites packed into the legendary venue to take in a sprawling set that covered everything from classic blues to western swing. A group of over a dozen Austin music heavies, including Carolyn Wonderland, Warren Hood and Joe Faulhaber, will recreate the jam as a tribute to the original artists and a farewell to the South Austin comfort food kitchen and music venue that is scheduled to close on Nov. 30. $17-$20 (proceeds benefit SIMS Foundation). 7 p.m. 301 W. Riverside Drive. threadgills.com

Nov. 30: Big Band Holidays with Wynton Marsalis at the Paramount Theatre. If jazzy vibes make your holidays bright, pull out the shades and settle in for a fantastic night. The legendary trumpet player leads the 15-piece Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra through big band arrangements of sacred and secular holiday classics. $25-$95. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org

Dec. 2: Love at the Stateside! Backed by a house band, a powerful roster of eight local singers including Ginger Leigh, Patrice Pike, Shelley King and Wendy Colonna will perform a mix of holiday favorites and original tunes to raise money for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, Superhero Kids at the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center, and Patrice Pike’s Step Onward Foundation. $34-$64. 3 p.m. 719 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org

Dec. 7: The Oh Hellos Christmas Extravaganza at Emo’s. San Marcos sibling folk duo Maggie and Tyler Heath have been making waves on the local scene and beyond since 2011. This year the group scored a high-profile slot headlining KGSR's popular Blues on the Green concert series. Their six-album catalog includes the 2014 release, “The Oh Hellos’ Family Christmas Album,” and for this show they plan to mix songs from the album with original tunes, “additional carols, bad jokes, singalongs, dancing, revelry and all the holiday cheer you can squeeze onto one stage.” $20. 8 p.m. doors. 2015 E. Riverside Drive. emosaustin.com

Dec. 10: A Very She and Him Christmas at ACL Live. Since they began collaborating in 2006, indie folk artist M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel have released two Christmas albums. Both prove the duo's ability to put a fresh spin on holiday classics. This show is part of a run of three concerts (the other two are in LA and San Francisco) that mark the group’s first live dates together since 2013. $37.50-$70.50. 8 p.m. 310 W. Willie Nelson Blvd. acl-live.com

Dec. 15: Bruce and Kelly’s Annual Holiday Show. “The fans return every year for the warm and friendly spirit that Robison and Willis bring to the stage,” Austin360’s Peter Blackstock writes. “They strike perfect husband-wife harmonies when they team up on favorites both seasonal (‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’) and perennial (Dave Alvin’s ‘Border Radio’). And each shines brightly when they’re in the spotlight on their own: Willis’ voice drifted like pure falling snow atop the strings-and-piano backing of ‘In the Bleak Midwinter,’ and Robison spread smiles throughout the theater with his poignant signature tune ‘My Brother and Me.’” This year’s special guest is John Fullbright. $30-$53. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. austintheatre.org

Dec. 21: Pachanga presents A Merry-Achi Christmas at ACL Live.
